Film 8 – Europa School UK – Weltraum Café – Space Café
Languages: German, English
Earlier this year we ran a pancake cafe in class, cooking food to share with each other and welcoming guests from other classes. Inspired by this real life experience of “community” we created an imaginative picture book about a cafe in space that welcomes all space travellers and provides them with food and drink. First we drew pictures to develop ideas for our story. Then we placed paper characters and props on big background pictures to create scenes for our book. Each child took photos with a digital camera. We added audio recordings to these images to make our film.
Film 9 – St Jerome Church of England Bilingual School, UK – A Rainforest Community Sharing Hope
The ‘Planet Club children’ wanted their story to be focused on a rainforest community which has to face the human destroyers. The children wanted not only to raise awareness about deforestation, but also to inspire hope that the situation can change. In the beginning of the story the rainforest is clean and beautiful. The flowers are blooming, the birds are singing happily, all the animals live in harmony. But, suddenly everything is going to change with the arrival of the human destroyers.
Film 10 – Herz Jesu Institut Italy, Face It – Stay Strong – Not Alone
Languages – German dialect, Standard German, Italian, Ladin, Albanian, English
Our films are about feelings that can change from positive to negative or from negative to positive emotions. They are about anxiety, loneliness, bullying and feeling different as well as acceptance, kindness, care and friendship as a healing power which makes people happy. The message of the three films is that fears and worries can be overcome by the care and support of friends and family members. We collected ideas for a comic, we drew and wrote the story und used it as a storyboard for our films.
