Film 24 – Greek School of Canberra, Australia – Bushfires 2019-2020

Languages: Greek and English

We chose the 2019/2020 bushfires as our theme not simply because it fits the theme ‘Our Planet’, but because it happened in Australia, killing many people and billions of animals – an event we experienced first-hand. The fires basically destroyed our climate, and the smoke left our skies pitch black in the morning. We believe that the fires are more than a worthy topic to cover in such an important festival.

We start our film highlighting the main natural disasters which are increasing in frequency and severity because of global warming. We concentrate on the Australian environment, but give advice to people from all countries on how to reduce their impact on the environment and the heating of our planet. We reinforce the importance of us all taking responsibility for our actions.

Film 27 – National Fengshan Senior High School, Taiwan – The Food We Leave Behind

Languages: Mandarin Chinese and English

Food waste is an issue that is becoming more relevant in today’s society, and so we created this film to raise awareness of it. We did so by utilising narration and reenacting how food waste often occurs in Taiwanese schools. In addition, we also used an interview format, with our actors giving us their own perspectives on food waste, and how it relates to their own characters. It is hoped that, by watching this film, people will not only know more about how food waste comes to be, but also how to solve this problem together.
